joy

“I know the LORD is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for He is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.
My body rests in safety…
You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of Your presence
and the pleasures of living with You forever.”
Psalm 16:8-9, 11

Joy. Gladness. Pleasures forever.

This advent, the week of joy slipped by and enveloped me in feeling sick, the kind presence of others, a steady diet of potatoes as I recovered, helpers offering strength when I didn’t have much to give, musicians and music I adore, lots of baby and kid snuggles, and some of the most beautiful times of experiencing God with us that I get to participate in annually.

Where else can I go? Who else holds the words of life? I know He is with me always. So I won’t be shaken. My body rests in safety. And my heart knows joy. The delight and pleasures of living with the Lord. In the way of life. In His presence. Forever. True joy.
