home

I just spent a week learning from and serving those who have been persecuted and lost their homes in other countries. They had to flee their homes and they can’t go back.

And I went with a group of people I really didn’t know, except for one. Some I had met before, some only once before, and one not at all.

In different ways, we’ve all lost something. And in some circumstances, we can’t go back.

But through the kindness of strangers, we can have a home again. And as strangers, we can extend kindness to give others a home.

After all, isn’t it what the Lord has given to us? Even when we were far off, He brought us near. As foreigners and aliens and strangers, He gives us a home. Brings us into home.

Sometimes it takes being with those who haven’t had a place to lay their head to feel like you’re finally at home.
