History often shows us some of the greatest courage in the face of some of the greatest darkness.

Those who devalue human beings are not new. Those who affirm the inherent dignity of human beings are not new.

Evil is not new. Good is not new. Cowardice is not new. Courage is not new. The complexity of how these intermingle in each of our lives is not new.

Any one of us could be capable of anything. And yet…

There is a good story unfolding. One where every wrong will be made right. Every hidden thing will come to light.

Perfect justice and perfect mercy will be met.

So here and now, let’s not forget history (spoiler alert, somehow this is simultaneously not the “worst” it’s ever been or ever will get). Let’s seek justice and love mercy. Let’s affirm the inherent dignity of every single human being.

And let’s actually walk in the light. Because the Light of the world Who knows all, sees all (and is beauty and glory beyond all others) extends a hand of peace through Jesus so we can know and walk in true fellowship with God and one another.
