hiding
If we were made to be a part of a larger community, a family, a body… then hiding myself neglects others.
The Lord actively invites His people to not neglect or hide or pay no attention to those around them, especially to those in need.
Neglecting others is directly related to hiding.
Not hiding enables me to see, and to see others.
And to come out of hiding does not mean that I get to define myself. But it means finding myself in who He has designed me to be, not intentionally trying to look like someone else. And not just blindly following the customs of the culture around me. It’s actively centered on Him and inviting others to do the same.
And in every single moment, with every single movement, to embrace being actively reminded of Who the Lord is and what He has done.
And when I come out of hiding, when I am not neglecting those around me, I realize that what is good for me is good for others. That I cannot actually win at the expense of others.
That if every single person is made in the image of God, that is it most honoring to my inherent dignity and their inherent dignity to be eyes wide open. To live wide open in the world around me. To be fully alive.
That to be loyal to any ideology or person or party above the person of Jesus Christ and what is right and good and true, cannot be ultimately good for me or even for the “other” that I think I am benefitting with my loyalty.
That hiding and covering up to preserve a lie cannot ever move us closer to the heart of God.
That love without truth, is a lie.
Don’t neglect us by your hiding, my friends.
Come out of hiding. Walk in the light.
