resurrection

The birthing of what is and will be has a beauty that’s beyond comprehension.

All around me and within me there is a resurrection coming. It’s happened, is happening now, and is coming. And isn’t this the glory of the gospel… what has happened, is happening now and what is to come?! The already, the now and the not yet. All necessary and good.

New life coming where once there was death. Where death had left it’s mark, life singing louder. Quite literally even. I’m hearing songs again from voices clear that had faltered or had lost their way for a bit. New songs of new life.

Resurrection. New life. New things. They mean the loss of the old. But sometimes the old is already lost. There’s a grief in the goodbye to what was, even if it was hard. There’s a need to clarify in confidence to move into the calling, even if the old was good. Because remaining past His season for you in what was once even the path of God’s goodness, provision and protection, can leave you enslaved. Egypt didn’t start out as a place of slavery for the children of Israel, it was His goodness that led them there! But when they stayed past a certain point, it wasn’t His best for them anymore.

The birthing of what is and will be has a beauty that’s beyond comprehension. Beyond was I could ask for, hope for, or even imagine (Ephesians 3:14-21). Even before knowing the details, or what in the world is even happening right now, I know that it is good. That it will be good.

Because even when I don’t know the future, I know Who does. And I know that He promises that it is good so I can have hope (Jeremiah 29:11; 31:17a; Lamentations 3:29). And not an “I wish it would work out” kind of hope, but an “I have confident assurance of the ending of this story and Who wins” kind of hope. So the very thing that can bring worry and anxiety, the unknown of the future, then can bring great hope.

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” (Proverbs 13:12)

Life. Coming loud and clear. Hope confident and sure.

Stepping out by faith into a fuller and clearer “yes” to all that the Lord is calling into being. Within us, and within the world around us.

Practically, it may not look any different to watching eyes. It may appear mundane and utterly unglamorous. Nothing may change. And yet everything will change. But sometimes practically, it may look different. But it is sure that calling is not attached to a particular form or plan but a Person who is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). And who He is, speaks life into all I am. It’s in seeing Him that I am more fully alive in myself and who He has called me to be. And the deepest calling is sure. What He has spoken remains. How He chooses to fulfill it very well may vary in different seasons.

“From everyone who has been given much, much will be required” (Luke 12:48b). But that much required isn’t a weight across the board, but a much in direct relation to the much that was given, by the Lord.

So I ask you… What has been given to you by God? Sweet friend, I know it’s much. But don’t get weighed down in the much that others would ask of you. His burden is easy and His yoke is light (Matthew 11:30). Many will have plans for your life, good plans. Many plans will be for a season, even a long season, but not a forever season. Let life come. Resurrection coming on the heels of a hope that is sure because He has come, is coming and will come again.
