heads up
Sweet friends, so many of the longings of our hearts consume... We see and we know what we're seeing isn't how it should be, how it ought to be. And as we look at how it is, which is how it shouldn't be, our hearts break a bit.
If my gaze is fixed on what I can see... If my head looks down at what's right in front of me... My hope is deferred and my heart gets sick. Heartsick with longing turned hopeless because I can't see the way to the future I know should be... Could be... If only...
But here's the glorious reality, the very idea of longing inherently calls to the best coming. It has inherent the idea of hope...specifically for the future. For help coming! For the expectation of deliverance coming! And it inherently has the idea of holding your head up.
Head up... Above what's right in front of you. Above your downcast shame. Above your fear that it'll never all work out.
Head up... Your Deliverer is coming. Your help is on the way. Your rescue is eminent.
Your hope is anchored in the One who never sleeps or gets tired or gets weary. You will get weary and He knows this...it's alright. He won't.
Heads up friends! Let us live with eager expectation unshaken with what we see in front of us. Not denying the heartbreak. But living with a holy longing, a holy expectation for deliverance coming. Heads up!
