autumn leaves
While two young women with terminal brain illness facing death made the news, autumn leaves reached their peak. One young woman chose to end her life herself. One chose to live each moment to the full until God took her home. This autumn leaves conversation is one that might help students or children you love grapple with these truths.
Autumn leaves speak of a glory coming for each who are willing to let go. To release their grip on life, becoming a blazing glory of beauty until their very last moment. A moment that sometimes comes very quickly, and sometimes gets stretched out. Every tree is different. Every autumn is different. But it is in the dying, that their true colors glow for all to see. Some would say it is their finest moment. All of creation displays the Gospel story. Woven through all. Sometimes whispering, wooing. Sometimes calling loudly. There is a greater beauty. A glory coming soon. Death has lost its sting. Death no longer wins.Because not only is there glorious beauty in dying in the season the Lord ordains, there is a new season of life coming. And unlike the trees, for us who are in Him, the new season will last forever.
