craftsmen
There’s a book in the Bible that has this beautiful picture of reviving the life of worship of the Lord. Of making a place, a space to center their lives around Him above all.
The prophet who spoke is named Zechariah and his name means “The Lord has remembered.” Before we even think to remember God, He has remembered us.
In the first chapter of Zechariah some warriors enter the picture…
You see, there had been some in power who had used their power to scatter, manipulate and push down God’s children.
So these warriors came to terrify and throw down those who had abused their power and used their power for selfish means.
And what I love most about these warriors, they were craftsmen.
I cannot tell you how much I love that the Lord has the builders and artisans, those skilled and anointed in art and with their hands, to overthrow worldly powers of idolatry and manipulators of His people. So they can then rebuild the temple. So they can actively remember and live a life centered on the presence of God.
And now, children of God, we actually become His dwelling place. Our bodies are now the temple carrying His presence with us. His presence is a fragrant aroma!
If our lives are not a fragrant aroma bearing the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control), then we have to pause and ask ourselves if we have been pushed down by worldly powers of idolatry or manipulation.
And if you are skilled in building, it’s time to build my friends. If you are anointed in art, it’s time to create and call God’s people to center our lives on the worship of Him and Him alone. Together, to remember and build. Instead of rushing past the head that’s been pushed down, to help them to look up. Look up my friends.
(These are some of my favorite artists, As Isaac… Their music will surely lift your head and help you center your life on worship of the Lord.)
