better
Sometimes as things get better, there’s a wave of unexpected backlash. The good change, reminds us freshly that the change was even needed in the first place. The fact that something new is celebrated can sometimes seem like a slap in the face because the new change is what should have been all along. The brokenness of what was, and what still remains, and how far we have yet to go can seem a crushing weight.
The relief of good change, gives space for the grief over what was that was not good to manifest in fresh ways. May we have mercy.
If you’ve never felt this, may I ask you to awaken your heart to the longing that you were born with, to seek, to find, to know… Part of this will never be met here and now. There is, as C. S. Lewis refers to it, an “inconsolable longing” in each of our hearts. But may, as Jesus prayed, God’s kingdom come “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10) more fully because of our lives.
